Road Trip Continued...DC Pics

Yes, we went to Washington DC on the same road trip. What can I say? We are wild and crazy fools!

We started off the day to a great start. My way cute, amazing cousin/tour guide, Amanda, met us at our hotel. She came bearing gifts for my kids. As if they didn't adore her already...now she had two extra appendages all day!

The Washington Monument

This was a new World War II Monument that was so cool! It was probably my favorite. They had a wall of stars and each star represented, I think, 10,000 people who died. I was pretty surreal to see that!

This monument was also filled with slabs for all the states who joined in the war and the order they joined. We decided to find the state that everyone turned 1 in, since they are all different. I should have been in this picture, I guess but someone needed to be the photographer.

Here's Braden's state. It's a really good picture of him, too. Braden struggled with this memorial. There were waterfalls and steps and walls everywhere. Those are usually Braden's Heaven. But it was pure torture for him because the memorials are very reverent and they have signs all over that say to be quiet and not climb or jump on any of the steps. And to top it all off, you couldn't throw pennies into the fountains. It doesn't make for a very happy Braden.

Bennett's state - he's really into it as you can tell.

Dane in California.

Vietnam War Memorial. It is unreal to see all the names on that wall. It gives you perspective on how huge the numbers are exactly.

Hailee's favorite thing was the Abraham Lincoln Memorial. She had a million questions about what he did and who he was. After we explained it she said that she wished she had brown skin because the people with white skin were mean and she didn't want to be mean.

We rode to the top of the Washington Monument and you could see the whole city from the top. It was really cool!

Waiting for the elevator at the top of the Monument.

If you ask Braden what his favorite part about the trip was he would probably say riding on the Subway. Everywhere we went he would ask if we were going on the subway. Amanda was kind enough to teach him some subway etiquette too. Every time we would get on the escalator he would say, "we have to stand on the right side so they can walk by". He was the escalator police. She also taught them how to "stand" on the subway without banging into every person in the car. What would we have done without Amanda?

Patiently waiting for the subway with arms folded.

We went to Chili's with Amanda before the baseball game. The kids just adored her.

Bennett is slightly obsessed with cell phones. That will make him happy at any point in time. He prefers it if they work but fake ones buy a little time.

Let's go Mets! This stadium is only about a year old and it was so nice! They had a really nice playground for the kids. They loved it!

Hailee's goal at any game is to get on the Jumbo tron when they show people dancing. Here she is trying desperately but to no avail. She tries to get Braden to dance too and always blames him when they don't make it on TV. Because her moves are sweet and it's his dumb dancing that is the problem!

We had to get Mets shirts in NY so here they are! Except for Bennett.

We had a great time. Thanks again, Amanda!!!

We went to D.C. for Easter last year. I think it is our favorite thing we have done while here. It was so much fun! You guys are nuts to do D.C. and N.Y. at the same time! BRAVE! Great pictures!
